Shared Opportunity Service, Inc.
Shared Opportunity Service, Inc. (SOS) is the non-profit 501(c)(3) that operates the Kent Family Center in Chestertown, Maryland. The agency was established in 1996 as a result of a local needs assessment that identified gaps in the family support services available in the community.
The center is the result of a partnership formed in 1999 between SOS and Friends of the Family Inc., a statewide network of 25 Family Support Centers in Maryland. Some of our programs are supported by funding from the Local Management Board and the United Way of Kent County
Award Winner "Outstanding Rural Community Development 2007" ...given to a program, project or organization that substantially improves the quality of life in at least one rural community.

To assist families in becoming healthy, stable and self-sufficient, and to offer them information, guidance and support.
VISION
To be the leader in providing quality family support services through the delivery of model programming of core services, sharing of educational programming and resources, and advocating for families
